Trastevere and the Jewish Ghetto

A “different” kind of adventure!

Discover with us some of the lesser known but surprisingly fascinating streets of Trastevere and Jewish Ghetto. In this tour we’ll driving and walk around the iconic neighborhood and visit the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere. “She” (the basilica) is considered one of the oldest churches in Rome, dating back to the 320s.

You will surrounded by the magical atmosphere of Rome, as the Romans know it. A district made by little stores, flowered balconies, 17th century gates, courtyards and nice apartment buildings. Trastevere is the Rome’s district that still conveys that genuine feeling of intact antiquity in the most visited cities in the world. Here, thanks to our “different” adventure and itineraries, you will experience the activities of this small village, such as bakeries, the market and antique stores.

We will cross the Tiber River to experience the second part of the tour. From Trastevere, you have to be prepared, because it is quite easy for the traveler to fall in love with the Jewish district (called ghetto). An area where we can still find the ruins of the ancient city, the Rome of the 5th century. The Jewish ghetto depicts an era of the past that summons poetic images in front of our eyes as we walk through the alleys and back streets of this beautiful city corner, an area that can only truly be understood and savored through our Golf Cart.

We will visit Piazza Margana, which Romans consider one of the most noble and elegant squares in Rome. We will move on to admire the Fontana delle Tartarughe (the Turtle Fountain) which dates back to the 16th century, and then the ruins of the ancient Theatre of Marcellus outdoors, the merchants of the Ghetto, until even one of the most important sites which is the view at the Great Synagogue of Rome*.

If you choose to just have a quick lunch we can stop for a piece of pizza that you will savor while strolling through the famous and incomparable Campo de Fiori, a lively market square by day that transforms during the night.

For a list of we will visit with our tour, please refer to the “What are we going to see” at the bottom of the page.

*TO BE NOTED: The tour to the Synagogue is not included so if you wish, you can visit it on your own, since we do not have the authorisation to privately guide you on the inside. Also, the tour of the Jewish District DOES NOT focus on religion, but only on the peculiar aspects of the neighbourhood. The tour will take place in alleyways of the area and in the distinctive squares just like other tours that we offer to give unique and memorable itineraries that will last a lifetime through.

Our tours are accessible

If walking is a problem but you want to see Rome, this is the tour for you! Touring by golf cart is the very best way to tour Rome for a disabled person, who has a wheelchair, stroller or even just a senior citizen! We have special golf carts that accommodate three people and store a wheelchair! Everyone sits facing forward, no-one feels excluded. The golf cart makes the tour of Rome very special and easy for people with walking problems. These little electric cars are allowed to drive practically anywhere, especially if a disabled person is aboard. The golf carts are very easy to get in and out of even for people with limited mobility, they have no doors.

Please note that our largest golf cart takes 7 passengers but if there is a wheelchair this will reduce the space to 5 passengers (plus the wheelchair). Groups of 6 and over will need 2 or more golf carts.

Great way to see more of Rome! We had a wonderful three hour tour of Rome in a golf cart. Giuseppe, our guide, asked us where we would like to go, and he took us to many places and gave us lots of good history and information that we would not have known otherwise. The kids loved it too!

Fantastic tour, knowledgeable guide Our guide, Dor, an architect, met us at our hotel, and took us to see the highlights of the city, as it was the first time for one of our friends in Rome. Great way to see off the beaten track places, explaining as we went along. Highly recommend it for people who cannot walk too much

Best City Tour Ever! What a great way to get around! Guilia (Julia?) is a fantastic guide. Our party of 4 was able to tailor our trip because we had seen a few hot spots the day before, so she took us places we hadn't thought to see. It was raining so the indoor market was a great place to stop for lunch and cheese and wine. She knew the cheese people, so they treated us exceptionally well. Julia made the history of Rome come alive with picture books and excellent stories. No we didn't have kids with us, but loved this approach anyway. Rome can be crowded, so having a golf cart tour allowed us to get up close without walking miles or dealing with traffic. We love segway tours, but this golf cart excursion really provided us with a more in-depth tour. Our excellent guide might have been the reason!

The BEST way to see Rome's highlights in a day! Our tour guide was the best! He was so knowledgeable on the history of Rome, being a native to Rome it was a great way to spend a day! We did the 6 hr tour but to tell you the truth, it really went by extremely fast! If you dont have the time to stay to see all the incredible features, this is definitely the best alternative! We will tell all our friends and associates that this was our highlight of our trip!

Easy peasy We’d been on many walking tours and were getting tired so when we saw this we were so pleased! The advantage of the golf cart is its size. The tour guide was able to get us very close to each attraction so we were only a few steps away. She was also very accommodating when we wanted to stop at a shop or restaurant.

Don’t Miss This!!! Absolutely amazing evening of learning, laughter, and a generally good time. Guila was just the best. She is completely bilingual and was able to easily share her extensive knowledge about this beautiful city. More than that though- she allowed us in. I don’t want to share too much so you will be pleasantly surprised- but the stops during the tour were vital- allowing us to participate in a way that would not have been otherwise possible. I now have two favorite tours in Rome and very seriously don’t miss out on this opportunity. It will inform and entertain.

Excellent Tour We loved this tour! Julia was a fantastic guide. We had a couple sites that we specifically wanted to see and then Julia took us to a few places she thought we would enjoy. She was so flexible and we loved her expertise and knowledge. The Roman bath ruins and church she took us to were such a pleasant surprise. We highly recommend this tour!

Highlight of our trip to Rome What a great way to see the sites of Rome! Our guide Mattei was extremely knowledgeable and fun. He even got some smiles out of my stoic 16year old. We learned oodles. Lots of stops to pop into some cathedrals and take pics by the fountains. Well worth the price!

Pinnacle of our trip Let me start by saying Mattia was our amazing guide. My husband and I were in Italy for two weeks and had 1 1/2 days to spend in Rome. Needless to say, this golf cart tour and our guide Mattia made it possible to see so much!! We hit many of the highlights in four hours. Mattia is a wealth of knowledge and he was so happy to share it with us. At the end of our tour we asked if he could drop us off at a restaurant we wanted to have dinner at. He asked if we had reservations....and we did not. He spoke with someone at the restaurant and we were able to get a table even though they were booked. While sitting there - we saw them turn several people away. Mattia - you made our short time in Rome magical. We truly loved every minute of our tour and hope to return in the future to take the night time tour to see all the sites lit up Thank you again!!
